Please put it into the ftp archives and replace V1.2.
#####CyberGif Version History
1.3 (January, 1993)
- Now allows all files that show up in "Open" dialog box to be
used in SlideShow!
- Fixes all known bombs that users had problems with.
- Fixes all known memory "leaks" that would force you to restart
CyberGif.
- Fixes problems some users had with multiple monitors.
1.2 (July, 1992)
- Fixes bomb some users had with bigger-than-the-screen GIFs.
1.1 (June, 1992)
- This version hopefully fixes the problems that some users had
with Mac LCs and the HDT Lightshow init. It also includes a way
to pause the slideshow.
1.0 (May, 1992)
- The first official release of CyberGif.
(Note: This is not the "next version" with lots of neat features that I have been working on for the past few months. This is basically a bug-fix version. Please bear with me while I finish up Version 2.0.
As a teaser, I'll tell you a few of the features Version 2.0 will have:
- Much-enhanced slide show. More controls and customization.
- GIF89a support.
- Works with any depth screen.
- Better dithering interface.
- and much, much, more!)
#####CyberGif Description
CyberGif is a Macintosh GIF viewer.
"Why another one?" you may ask. Well, I wasn't happy with the state-of-the-art in Macintosh GIF viewers. So, I tried the other gif viewers/editors and found the features that I wanted in a GIF viewer. These features include:
-Fast Decode & Display--see the gifs as you decode them.
-Small Program Size--only 54k! Save disk space for GIFs--not viewers!
-Dithering--CyberGif allows black & white Macs (w/ColorQD) to see GIF files! Please note that CyberGif does this AUTOMATICALLY only if all monitors hooked up to the Mac are in two color mode. Multiple monitors of differing depths may confuse CyberGif. A future version will fix this.
-Slide Show--just put the GIFs you want in a directory and watch the full screen show! Also note that the GIFs must be of type 'GIFf' to be seen in the slide show.
-Growable/Scrollable windows--you can choose to stretch/shrink the window!
-Fit Gif to Screen--and keeps the GIF proportions correct!
-Full Screen Window--for those times when a window and menu bar are too distracting!
-System Palette Option--see how the GIF would look as a background picture!
-Information Window--look at the current GIF's colors and much more!
-Flash--get rid of color residue that most GIF viewer leave in the background!
#####NOTES:
CyberGif has been developed and tested on a Macintosh IIcx running System 7.0 with both Virtual Memory and 32-bit mode on.
On any machine without Color Quickdraw, CyberGif dies a quick and ugly death. This will be fixed in a future version.
On multiple-monitor machines, automatic dithering will NOT work unless ALL screens are set to 1-bit mode.
* Added a file filter so that Sparkle will now open all files
with a .mpg suffix.
* Fixed various small bugs.
* Made the corrupt-MPEG detection/recovery more robust.
* New icons.
See the New in 1.6 file for details.
WHAT IS IT?
Sparkle plays MPEGs and converts them to QuickTime movies. It uses the
standard QuickTime movie controller as its interface. It is multifinder
friendly and, with enough memory, will open multiple documents at once.
It is free. I ask only that you read the enclosed README file and if you
can help with any of the issues I raise there, you mail me.
REQUIRES:
System 7 or greater.
QuickTime 1.5 or greater.
An 020 based mac or greater.

This is an update to the startupscreens and desktop pictures FAQ.

Over the last year or so I've posted quite a few startupscreens to
info-mac. One consequence of this is to get a flood of email asking
questions about how to use the screens, how to create them and so on.
The following is a list of answers to the most common questions.
Frequently asked questions about startupscreens and desktop pictures.
1) I have a startupscreen, how do I get it to work?
A-- Rename the file to "startupscreen" (no quotes) and put in in your
system folder. The next time you reboot it will be displayed.
2) I tried that and the startupscreen looked terrible on my SE/30. All
black and horrible.

Stereogram Maker is a little program that will generate random-element
stereograms from any black and white picture. All you have to do is provide
the black and white picture and in the blink of an eye you will have a lovely
stereogram. Just put on your handy red-green glasses (red goes on the right,
please) and wondrous shapes will pop right out of the screen at you! This
update fixes a bug in version 1.0.
